Cut for the frame you have
Chest, shoulder, sleeve, seat and thigh are measured on you and drafted separately. A big chest no longer buys you long sleeves and a collar that stands off the neck.

I · The House
THE BIG MAN cuts by appointment in Phase 7, Mohali. One client at a time, one pattern at a time, kept on file for life.
Chest, shoulder, sleeve, seat and thigh are measured on you and drafted separately. A big chest no longer buys you long sleeves and a collar that stands off the neck.
Drafted from your measurements and kept under your name. The second suit fits better than the first, and the fifth better still — because it starts from a pattern that already knows you.
From the first appointment to the hanger. For a wedding, book a month ahead and we will tell you honestly what the calendar allows.
Ninety minutes for the first visit, and it costs nothing. House visits and out-of-city fittings arranged on request.
II · The Fit
You have lived with all of them. None of them is your fault, and none of them survives a pattern drawn to you.
Off the rackFasten the jacket and an X of creases pulls across the chest. Leave it open and the whole thing swings.
HereChest and waist are drafted to your figure, so the front closes flat — and stays closed when you sit down to eat.
Off the rackThe jacket stands off the back of the neck, because the shoulders were cut for a narrower man and the size was let out to fit you.
HereShoulder width and back length are yours. The collar sits on the neck from the first fitting and never leaves it.
Off the rackThe chest finally fits, so the sleeves are two inches too long and the jacket is a hand-span too long with them.
HereSleeve and jacket length are measured on their own. Half an inch of shirt cuff shows, the way it should.
Off the rackTight in the thigh, tight in the seat, loose at the knee, and a rise that sits wherever it lands.
HereRise, seat and thigh are cut on the body. Pleats if they help you, none if they do not. The crease falls straight to the shoe.
Off the rackGaps at the chest, tight across the stomach, and a collar that chokes the moment the tie goes on.
HereSeventeen measurements before a single seam. The shirt fits from the neck to the tail, and the tie can be worn all day.

V · How It Works
One long first appointment, two or three short ones, and the finished garment on a hanger at the end of it. Here is the fortnight.
Ninety minutes, free. We talk about the occasion, how you sit, what you carry, and which shoulder your bag lives on. Then the cloth books come out.
Between twenty-four and thirty measurements for a jacket, seventeen for a shirt, with posture notes. A pattern is drawn from them to you, and to nobody else.
The cloth is cut on your pattern and put together loosely, so that everything can still be changed once it is on you.
Two or three, each about twenty minutes. Chalk marks, seams let out or taken in, the balance corrected on your body. This is the part a rack cannot sell you.
Pressed, hung and handed over. Your pattern goes into the archive under your name, ready for the next one.

Questions
Yes — that is the whole point of the studio. Nothing here starts from a standard size. Your chest, shoulder, sleeve, seat and thigh are measured on you and drafted into your own pattern, so a big chest no longer means long sleeves and a gaping collar. There is no size we do not cut.
Phase 7, Mohali — HL 429, Second Floor (Sector 61, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Punjab 160062), a short drive from Chandigarh, Panchkula and Zirakpur. We work by appointment. Call or WhatsApp +91 73409 35986 to book a fitting.
Ten to fifteen days from the first appointment to delivery, fittings included. For a wedding we recommend booking about a month ahead — earlier if the commission involves embroidery.
It depends on the cloth far more than on the cut. Come in, or send a message with what you have in mind, and you will have a clear figure before anything is cut. The first appointment costs nothing.
Yes. Sherwani, bandhgala, jodhpuri, achkan, indo-western and full groom suits are all cut to your own pattern — including the collar height and the length, which is where a readymade sherwani goes wrong on a big man.
A readymade or altered coat pant starts from a standard size block and is let out until it closes. Bespoke starts from a pattern drafted to your own measurements and posture, and is kept on file under your name — so the second garment fits better than the first.
Six merchants: Loro Piana, Holland & Sherry, Vitale Barberis Canonico, Fox Brothers, Huddersfield Fine Worsteds and Bourgoin. If a cloth is not in one of those six books, we will say so rather than substitute quietly.
Yes, where the garment has enough inlay to work with. Bring it to the studio and we will tell you honestly what can and cannot be corrected.
We cut: bespoke and made-to-measure suits, coat pant, two-piece and three-piece suits, double-breasted suits, linen and seersucker summer suits, safari suits, travel suits, blazers and sport coats, tuxedos and dinner suits, tailcoats and morning coats, overcoats and trench coats, gurkha and pleated trousers, custom formal shirts, waistcoats, Nehru jackets, bandhgala, jodhpuri, sherwani, achkan, indo-western, kurta pyjama and pathani — for big and tall men, from a 44 chest upward with no upper limit — in Mohali, Chandigarh, Panchkula, Zirakpur and across Punjab.
